Built to be usable by everyone
Legal information that some people cannot read is a failure of the information, not of the people. This site is built against WCAG 2.2 Level AA, and this page records what that means, what has been tested, and how to tell the practice when something falls short.
What is built in
- Semantic structure with landmarks, one main heading per page and a logical heading order
- Complete keyboard operation, with a skip link and visible focus indication throughout
- Text contrast checked programmatically against WCAG 2.2 AA in both light and dark themes
- Touch targets of at least 44 by 44 pixels for interactive controls
- Layouts that reflow at 200 and 400 percent zoom without horizontal scrolling of text
- Respect for reduced-motion preferences, with animation removed rather than merely shortened
- Support for forced-colours and high-contrast modes
- No information conveyed by colour alone, and no essential text inside images
- Forms with visible labels, described hints, error summaries and status announcements
- Core content and navigation that work without JavaScript, including a full browse index in place of search
- Print stylesheets so legal material can be saved and read on paper cleanly
Testing so far
Automated checks run against every build. Structural checks for headings, landmarks, labels and alternative text. Programmatic contrast checks across the full colour token system. Link integrity across all pages. Keyboard and zoom behaviour has been exercised in a desktop browser during development.
Manual testing with screen readers and other assistive technology has not yet been completed by an independent reviewer, and this statement will be updated when it has. The practice prefers stating that honestly over claiming a certification it does not yet hold.
Known limitations
- The optional map loads content from OpenStreetMap, whose own interface sets its own accessibility
- Sample diagram entries include figures whose full information is provided in adjacent text
