Delhi & Gujarat Appellate Coordination

When a matter must travel between Gujarat forums and the appellate tier in Delhi

Most Gujarat matters that go the distance end up in Delhi, before the Supreme Court, the appellate tribunals or a central regulator. Handling that journey through two unconnected sets of lawyers costs time, money and consistency. The practice is built across both seats so the matter travels inside one file.

The work

The practice carries its own matters upward, filing and conducting appeals and special leave proceedings from Gujarat decisions, and appearing before the appellate tribunals for orders made below. It maintains caveats where an opponent is likely to move first. It briefs and instructs senior counsel where the stakes call for it, with the record already organised the way an appellate court reads it.

It also takes referrals the other way, acting as the Gujarat end for Delhi and other firms that need proceedings conducted before the Gujarat High Court, the state tribunals or the Ahmedabad benches.

How the practice approaches it

Appellate work is record work. The practice builds the record for appeal while the matter is still in the first forum, keeps one continuous file across both cities, and treats the question of whether to appeal as a real question, answered in writing, with the costs and prospects stated plainly.

Begin with the issue, not the sales pitch.

Describe the situation in general terms. The forum, the deadline, the document you have received. The practice replies with what it needs to check before anything else, and a conflict check comes before any confidential detail.

Before you write. Please do not send confidential documents, case papers or privileged detail until the practice has completed a conflict check and confirmed in writing that it can act. A first message should describe the issue in general terms only.
